**Overview**
The Golf Course Superintendent is a highly responsible professional responsible for managing 18 holes on a golf course, putting green, and surrounding areas. This includes building maintenance, environmental/safety regulation and compliance, and organization of events, etc. The incumbent is responsible for the general supervision and maintenance of the course as well as the maintenance of the crew, which consists of approximately 5-8 full-time staff and 10-20 part-time student employees. **Responsibilities**
* Manage 18 holes on a golf course, putting green, and surrounding areas
* Perform daily scheduling and supervision of work, including delegating tasks to others and ensuring tasks are completed in a timely fashion
* Supervise field irrigation maintenance, including diagnosing irrigation problems and selecting an appropriate course of action
* Manage maintenance facilities, including ensuring all buildings are clear and free of debris
* Manage chemical buildings, including ensuring containers are properly labeled and floors are clear of any spills
* Conduct integrated pest management, including accurately scouting for pests and taking appropriate action
* Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and fertilizers in accordance with label instructions and university policies
* Maintain accurate and timely application records in compliance with regulatory and institutional requirements
* Assist in managing chemical storage areas and monitoring and maintaining chemical inventory levels
* Respond appropriately to spills or emergencies and follow established incident reporting procedures
* Coordinate and schedule equipment needs and changes with maintenance mechanic
* Perform other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
* Experience in bentgrass greens management, crew supervision, aerification, and operational knowledge of golf course equipment and chemical application
* Knowledge of UGA Golf Course Best Management Practices Guidelines
* Proficiency with irrigation software
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks in a timely fashion
* Strong communication and organizational skills
