This position is responsible for overseeing daily golf operations, member services, practice facilities, inventory control, and tournament administration. Anchored by a high-touch hospitality focus, the Head Golf Professional will set exemplary customer service standards across all touchpoints, delivering an unparalleled golf experience for Members and their guests. As a key leader on the team, the ideal candidate will bring a dedicated passion for staff mentorship—building, training, and inspiring an energetic team of Assistant Professionals and operations staff members. The Head Golf Professional will practice visible leadership and maintain high standards of daily operational excellence. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Golf Operations & Member Experience Provide visible, hands-on leadership to deliver an exceptional, high-touch golf experience for all Members and their guests across all 27 holes and facility touchpoints. Oversee daily tee sheet management, starting, pace of play, and practice facility operations to ensure seamless execution and optimal course utilization. Manage and execute a comprehensive tournament calendar utilizing Golf Genius for advanced setup and scoring. Enforce USGA Rules of Golf, local rules, and club policies with a fair, consistent, and diplomatic approach; conduct rules clinics and educational sessions for the membership. Play golf with Members of all skill levels as time permits to foster strong relationships, build community, and promote active participation in golf programming. Coordinate closely with the Golf Course Superintendent on course setup, playability, practice range management, and maintenance impacts. Staff Leadership & Mentorship Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and inspire a high-performing team of Assistant Golf Professionals and outside operations staff. Act as a dedicated mentor to junior staff, fostering their professional growth, encouraging PGA education/certification, and supporting their involvement in Rocky Mountain Section PGA events, meetings and education. Establish clear service standards, operational “playbooks,” and daily procedures to maintain consistent, high-level execution across all golf service areas. Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions focused on service excellence, safety, and operational efficiency. Retail & Merchandising Management In collaboration with the Retail Buyer and Merchandiser, oversee the Golf Shop merchandising operation, maintaining an attractive, orderly, and well-stocked shop floor that reflects the tastes and needs of the membership. Manage inventory control, buying plans, physical inventory counts, and point-of-sale systems to protect assets and achieve financial performance targets. Maintain a seamless member special-order process and track member preferences, sizing, and buying habits to drive high-touch personalized service. Instruction & Year-Round Engagement Along with the Director of Instruction, support and deliver structured instruction, clinics, and player development programs for men, women, and juniors, aligning with overall golf operations demands. Play an active role in driving year-round golf engagement utilizing the new four-bay TrackMan indoor simulator facility opening this November. Administration & Departmental Collaboration Work directly under the guidance of the Director of Golf to assist in preparing, monitoring, and managing annual operating budgets, revenue targets, and labor expense controls. Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team to coordinate catering, logistics, and on-course food and beverage service for all golf events and tournaments. Partner with the Membership Director to assist with prospective member tours, orientation, and integration into the golf program. Maintain accurate records for player rounds, guest fees, bag storage, lockers, handicaps, and cart fleet maintenance. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Including, but not limited to, the following: PGA Class A Member or LPGA member in good standing. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combined education and industry experience. Experience: Proven track record in private club operations, including prior experience as a Lead Assistant Golf Professional or Head Golf Professional at a premier private facility. Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Golf Genius tournament software, POS/inventory systems (Northstar), and Microsoft Office applications. Staff Leadership & Mentoring: Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop an energetic team of assistant professionals and seasonal support staff. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The club will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to: Compensation Base Salary: ~$100,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Performance Bonus: Annual target up to 10% of base salary.
