About the Role
Position Summary
Clarksville Country Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organized Golf
Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance and agronomic operations of our golf course. The
Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining exceptional playing conditions while
effectively managing staff, budgets, equipment, agronomic programs, and daily golf course
operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of turfgrass
management, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing consistently
high-quality playing conditions for our members and guests.
Key Responsibilities
• Direct and supervise all golf course maintenance and agronomic operations.
• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs for greens, tees, fairways,
roughs, bunkers, and surrounding areas.
• Establish and maintain turfgrass management practices including mowing, fertilization,
irrigation, aerification, topdressing, and pest management.
• Monitor turf health, soil conditions, irrigation performance, weather conditions, and
disease/pest activity.
• Develop annual maintenance plans and operating budgets.
• Manage labor, chemical, fertilizer, equipment, water, and other maintenance expenses.
• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff.
• Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, fertilizer applications, irrigation,
weather, labor, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, pesticide, safety, and workplace
regulations.
• Oversee the proper operation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Coordinate golf course maintenance activities with the pro shop and ownership
• Communicate effectively with club leadership, members, guests, and staff regarding
course conditions and maintenance activities.
• Develop and maintain a safe, professional, and productive work environment.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance
programs.
• Assist with capital improvement projects, renovations, drainage projects, irrigation
Qualifications
• Minimum of [3–5] years of golf course maintenance experience, with supervisory or
management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a
related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of warm-season turfgrass management, in the transition zone (extreme
cold/heat)
• Knowledge of pesticide, fertilizer, irrigation, and water-management practices.
• Experience developing and managing departmental budgets.
• Strong personnel-management and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound agronomic decisions.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and in varying weather conditions
when necessary.
• Appropriate state pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one within the first 30
days
Preferred Qualifications
• GCSAA membership or certification.
• Previous Golf Course Superintendent experience.
• Experience at a private club, resort, championship, or high-end daily-fee facility.
• Experience managing golf course renovation or construction projects.
• Experience with computerized rainbird irrigation management systems.
• Experience with tiff eagle greens
