About the Role
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and grounds operations. The Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining excellent playing conditions, supervising maintenance staff, managing equipment and irrigation systems, and ensuring the golf course is presented at the highest possible standard throughout the season.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in golf course maintenance, leadership experience, and mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine repairs on maintenance equipment when needed.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily maintenance and operation of the golf course and surrounding grounds.
Supervise, schedule, train, and lead maintenance staff.
Maintain high-quality turf conditions on greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and practice areas.
Monitor and manage irrigation systems to ensure proper course conditions.
Develop and implement mowing, fertilization, aeration, pest control, and maintenance programs.
Prepare the course for tournaments, outings, leagues, and special events.
Operate golf course maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on golf course equipment as needed.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate major repairs with outside service providers when necessary.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized maintenance facility.
Monitor inventory levels for supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
Assist with budgeting and cost control for maintenance operations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Communicate regularly with management regarding course conditions, staffing needs, and ongoing projects.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of golf course maintenance or golf course superintendent experience.
Strong knowledge of turfgrass management and golf course maintenance practices.
Ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a maintenance team.
Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on golf course equipment.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of golf course superintendent or golf course maintenance management experience.
Golf Course Superintendent certification or other relevant turfgrass certifications.
Degree or coursework in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain one.
Experience managing irrigation systems.
Experience with equipment fleet management and preventative maintenance programs.
Knowledge of budgeting and maintenance cost control.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Early mornings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal overtime may be required to maintain course conditions and support golf operations.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and overall fit for the position.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
