Title: Varsity Boys Golf Coach Location: Greenville High School Classification: Athletic Coach Reports to: Director of Athletics Schedule: Seasonal Salary: $2,324 - $5,113 per season, based upon relevant prior experience Benefits: This position does not meet the requirements for benefit eligibility POSITION SUMMARY: The Varsity Boys Golf Coach will organize and supervise all aspects of the varsity boys golf program, promoting sportsmanship, skill development, teamwork, leadership, and academic success. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned Organize, supervise, and coach the varsity boys golf teamPlan and conduct practices that promote individual skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and sportsmanshipDevelop practice schedules, competition strategies, and lineupsTeach proper golf fundamentals, rules, etiquette, and course managementPromote a positive and respectful team culture that reflects the values of the school district and athletic departmentSupervise student athletes during practices, matches, transportation, and team eventsMaintain effective communication with athletes, parents, athletic administration, officials, and school personnelMonitor athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic successCoordinate scheduling needs, transportation requests, equipment inventory, and uniform distribution/collectionMaintain and care for golf equipment and program materialsCollaborate with JV coach to support program development and continuityAssist with offseason program development and athlete engagementCommitment to regular and predictable attendanceAdherence to Greenville Public Schools core values: integrity, collaboration, compassion, and responsibilityQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Previous coaching or playing experience in golfStrong knowledge of golf rules, techniques, and strategiesAbility to motivate and mentor student athletesStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsKnowledge of MHSAA policies preferredSatisfactory background checkEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalentPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must be able to: Stand for extended periods during practices and gamesSit for extended periods on buses for away games and tournamentsPerform and demonstrate golf skills and movements such as swing techniquesMove up and down the course, observe players, and actively engage with themStamina to spend long hours outdoors on varying terrain and in various weather conditionsLift and move golf clubs, golf balls, training gear, and other equipment (typically up to 25-50 lbs)Project voice loudly and clearly in noisy environmentsMaintain composure under stressThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this position.
