Description / Position Overview Golf Maintenance Worker (PT Maintenance Support) - (Seasonal Position) About the Job: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services seeks a Golf Maintenance Worker for the City's golf courses. Job Type: Seasonal Work Schedule: Work will vary based on the needs of the department but will typically be Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (some weekends and holidays required). Work Location: Patty Jewett Golf Course 1150 E. Caramillo St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or Valley Hi Golf Course 610 S Chelton Road Colorado Springs, CO 80910 This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association). Approximate dates of employment will be April - October. Scheduled hours will vary based on department needs. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually. As a Golf Maintenance Worker, you will: Operate equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, hand mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and sand prosLoad and unload mower baskets, utility vehicles, and pickup trucksMaintain driving range, clubhouse, and maintenance areasChange putting green cups; top dress green and turf areasRepair irrigation by digging up lines from ground level to four feet deep; replace pipe and sprinklersLoad trucksters with sand and dirtApply fertilizer by filling bin on spreader and pushing and walking behind spreader for long distancesPick up trash receptacles and load them into utility vehiclesClean golf course facilities and restroomsClean and fuel utility vehicles, mowers, and other fuel-powered equipment after each use; report equipment mechanical issuesOperate self-propelled mowing equipment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of:Various power and hand tools including blowers, chain saws, shovels, rakes, and post hole diggersIrrigation systems and turf maintenanceAbility to:Safely use riding and push mowers, aerifiers, edgers, trimmers, and blowersSafely use tools and equipment properly and safelyUnderstand and follow oral instructionsWork around the public in a safe and courteous mannerProvide excellent customer serviceEstablish and maintain effective working relationships Minimum Qualifications Experience which demonstrates knowledge of golf etiquette Additional Information Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions; sit, climb, balance, bend, crawl, stoop, twist, reach, pull, stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds (with assistance) occasionally; and work around noisy equipment daily.
