POSITION SUMMARY
The Superintendent is responsible for the operation of the golf course set-up and maintenance. They will work to create an environment where staff are involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests, and the property.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and personnel
Oversees Golf course Maintenance and Course Grounds Crew
Manage and maintain the golf courses, maintenance equipment, golf cart fleet, club grounds and landscaping, swimming pool and other recreational facilities
Oversee and maintain open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence, sod farm and nursery along with other properties as specified by GM.
Keep accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
Interview, hire, train and supervise a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install sprinkler systems
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws, and regulations
Oversee the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and wetlands on the facility grounds.
Work closely with, advise, and coordinate with the Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course maintenance
Purchase products, monitor daily records, and maintain inventory
Inform staff of procedures and standards
Train staff on safe operation of maintenance equipment
Inspect golf courses and maintenance areas daily for vandalism and environmental/safety concerns
Conduct daily facility security checks, ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys
Direct and participate in the construction and maintenance of the grounds
Design landscape plans for facility grounds and implements the plan
Administer and enforces all Club rules, regulations, and policies for staff
Oversee subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
Manage an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems and provides monthly reporting on retaining ponds, wells, and other water source usage
Work closely with the GM & Director of Golf to operate the Golf Courses in a fiscally responsible and professional manner
Maintain records and complete required reporting; order parts, supplies and equipment as needed
Schedule maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to members
Other duties as may be required by management
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education/Credentials:
Must have a pesticide license within 90 days of employment and maintain an active license
Experience:

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Superintendent works inside and outside in different weather conditions, which vary across locations. This is a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions. The schedule includes holidays and weekends, and it may be changed as needed to meet demand.
