<p><strong>BRIEF DESCRIPTION</strong></p>
<p>This is a working supervisory position that involves a combination of duties including; supervision, maintenance and agronomic management of the golf course maintenance equipment, irrigation systems, vehicles, related buildings/facilities and perform the daily activities necessary to perform the functions of the position.</p>
<p><strong>NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of golf course maintenance operations</li>
<li>Skills in oral and written communication</li>
<li>Ability to instruct others in the techniques of golf course maintenance</li>
<li>Ability to service and make minor repairs to equipment and to know safety standards to prevent hazards</li>
<li>Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment such as mower and trimmers</li>
<li>Ability to meet and work with the public in a friendly and courteous manner</li>
<li>Knowledge of golfing equipment and supplies</li>
<li>Ability to budget the costs of operation</li>
<li>Ability to coordinate course maintenance and repair</li>
<li>Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting golf course operation and environmental management</li>
<li>Ability to executive in terms of problem solving and decision making</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</strong></p>
<p>High school graduate or its equivalent, and five years of experience in golf course maintenance and at least two years of experience in a supervisory capacity; must have proven management, decision making, and problem solving skills. Experience implementing an Integrated Pest Management Program.</p>
<p>Requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass practices; prefer a degree in Agronomy or Turf grass Management from an accredited educational institution.</p>
<p>Requires knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the management of a golf course including environmental standards OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete the job will be considered.</p>
<p><strong>CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED</strong></p>
<p>A Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record</p>
<p>Applicable Texas pesticide applicators license must be maintained</p>
<p>Prefer Certified Golf Course Superintendent from the Golf Course Superintendents of America (GCSAA).</p>
<p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS</strong></p>
<p>Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months.</p>
<p><strong>TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED</strong></p>
<p>Tractors, reel-type and rotary mowing equipment, string trimmer, chain saw, etc.</p>
