Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent
Full time, Salaried The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to manage and execute daily agronomic programs. This role requires specific expertise in managing creeping bent grass greens through the heat and humidity of Eastern NC summers, alongside warm-season 419 TifWay Bermuda fairways, rough and tees. The successful candidate will supervise staff, calibrate and apply chemicals/fertilizers, and manage the irrigation system.
Core Responsibilities
Bent Grass Management: Implement intensive agronomic practices tailored for bent grass greens in the transition zone, including heavy summer hand-watering, moisture management, syringing, disease/pest scouting, and aggressive aerification/topdressing. Reports daily to Golf Course Superintendent.
Crew Supervision & Training: Assist in training, scheduling, and supervising the maintenance staff. Ensure daily course setup meets the highest standards for playability and presentation.
Water Management: Manage and monitor the golf course irrigation system, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on sprinkler heads.
Chemical & Fertilizer Applications: Assist in planning and safely executing fertilizer and pesticide applications. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Pesticide license is not required, but a Non-Certified applicator class is necessary before spraying.
Course Improvements: Assist with planning and coordination of on-course projects, such as drainage installation, sodding, and bunker renovations.
Department Leadership: Assume full operational responsibilities for the maintenance department in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent.
Agronomic Plan Development: Work side by side with the Golf Course Superintendent to create weekly, monthly and yearly plans for the course.

Qualifications & Experience
Preferable 2 years of prior golf course experience

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
