Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to ensure the daily maintenance and operations of the golf course are executed efficiently, ensuring the course is maintained to the highest standards. The Assistant Superintendent will alternate weekends with our Assistant Superintendent. Hours will range from 45-65 hours during the growing season and depending on if you are scheduled to work the weekend. Assistant Superintendents are encouraged to take time off during the summer months to maintain a work life balance. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the planning and supervision of all golf course maintenance activities, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control. Supervise and train a crew of groundskeepers, ensuring adherence to proper maintenance standards and safety procedures. Oversee the daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers Maintain and use irrigation systems as needed Assist with inventory and application of pesticides and fertilizers Qualifications: A 2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field preferred At least 2-3 years of experience in golf course maintenance Strong leadership and supervisory skills Ability to identify and manage turf diseases, pests, and other issues. Excellent communication skills Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Driver’s License and PA Pesticide Applicator’s License or the ability to obtain one within six months Self-motivated, organized, and able to prioritize tasks Compensation & Benefits: Health, dental, vision and life insurance available.
