Under the general direction of the Golf Administrator, responsible managerial work overseeing a variety of administrative, supervisory, and procedural functions involving records, multi-skilled workers, operations, and maintenance functions pertaining to the City-owned golf course. Hours of works will vary depending upon the needs of the golf course division. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

The starting annual salary for this position is $83,251.38 - $95,739.07 depending on qualifications

This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials.

Essential Duties

Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St.

Lucie and Parks and Recreation Department at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.Assists in the implementation and execution of all promotional and marketing strategies for the golf course operations.Directs, coordinates, and oversees group, tournament, and league play.Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists work force in solving problems and tasks.Requisition’s materials and supplies.Provides field and miscellaneous training.Prepares reports, correspondence, work orders, forms, etc.

And maintains files and computer records.Schedules and coordinates work schedules and equipment needs for all golf operations.Supervises and ensures superior service levels in the pro shop.Develops ideas and concepts for the planning and promotion of City sponsored events.Maintains accurate daily records of operations along with daily and end of the month financial reports.Maintain records of sales and inventory of merchandise.Manages instructors responsible for golf instructions for all groups and levels of play.Responsible for supporting and monitoring evaluation processes, including planning, training, evaluation and analysis, for programs and events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications

Education And/Or Experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in business administration, golf course administration, sports management, marketing or related field is required. A minimum of five (5) years of management experience required, with two (2) years of experience at a recreational or club facility preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Possession of valid driver’s license and maintenance of clean driving record required with the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days from date of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of procedures, practices and methods of golf course operations.Knowledge of golf course equipment operation and maintenance.Knowledge of the principles of budgeting.Ability to supervise, plan and schedule the work of staff.Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer.Ability to train staff.Skill in supervision and direction of a multi-level staff.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, employees, and the public.Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.Ability to focus on the positive in every situation.Ability to model respect for individuals, teams, and the organization.Ability to stay centered when challenged.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to follow through with assigned tasks.Ability to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of the department and public.
