About the Role
Position Summary The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising banquet staff and ensuring exceptional service during events, including weddings, corporate meetings, club events and social gatherings. This role serves as the primary on-site leader for banquet functions, coordinating event setup, service execution, and breakdown while maintaining high standards of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff during events.
Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and communicate event details to the team.
Ensure proper room setup according to event specifications, including tables, chairs, linens, décor, and audiovisual requirements.
Conduct pre-shift meetings to assign duties and review service expectations.
Monitor food and beverage service to ensure quality, presentation, and timeliness.
Address guest requests and resolve service issues professionally and promptly.
Coordinate with culinary team, sales, and event management teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the event space.
Assist with inventory control and equipment management.
Train and mentor banquet staff on service standards and procedures.
Complete post-event inspections and oversee event breakdown and cleanup.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related education preferred.
Minimum 2 years of banquet, restaurant, hotel, or catering experience.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in hotels and or private country clubs
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
