The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operations, and management of the golf course and landscaping. This role ensures that the golf course is maintained to the highest standards of playability and aesthetics, adhering to all relevant regulations and best practices.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Course Maintenance & Management
Plan, schedule and supervise the general maintenance of the golf course and other related grounds.Assume responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course properties, to include:
The golf course(s)Maintenance equipmentThe golf car fleetClubhouse grounds and landscapingTennis courts, swimming pool and other recreational facilitiesOpen spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fenceBerry Creek Metropolitan District (Singletree Community) grounds maintenance & winter maintenanceOversee operation of the golf course pumping and irrigation systems.Construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.Manage any pesticide and fertilizer applications.Adhere to all established practices as defined in the Sonnenalp Golf Course Agronomy Standard Operations PoliciesTake part in the winter responsibilities including but not limited to snow removal, facility upkeep, various projects, and educational seminar attendance.
Team Leadership & Management
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise processes of the maintenance staff.Offers assistance and support to the Golf Course Mechanic.Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and professional development.Communicate effectively with the golf course management team, staff, and members.Address and resolve any maintenance-related issues or complaints.Provide input and support for tournaments, special events, and other activities held on the course.
Equipment & Budget Management
Oversee the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment and machinery.Develop and manage the annual budget for the golf course maintenance department.Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.Offers assistance and support to the Golf Course Mechanic
Environmental & Safety Compliance
Instruct & enforce the staff in the proper, safe, and efficient techniques to operate all types of equipment.Maintain records of all pesticide/fertilizer applications, irrigation schedules, staff training and attendance records, and daily maintenance practices.
Other
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.Implement innovative solutions to enhance course quality and operational efficiency.Be on call for situations that require immediate attention.Performs other related responsibilities as assigned by GM or ownership.
Education/Experience
A degree in agronomy, turf management or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Special Skills/Equipment
A valid driver’s license is required. Knowledge of golf rules, regulations, and policies. Successful experience with Poa USGA greensExperience with pesticide and fertilizer schedulesAdvanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practicesExcellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure. Working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methodsStrong budget management and forecasting skills.Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations).Experience with highly seasonal workforces and resort communitiesExperience developing capital equipment replacement plansExperience with the challenges of turf issues in mountain climatesEssential Physical Requirements
