Position Overview: This position develops, administers and implements all aspects of the Minnesota State men’s & women’s intercollegiate golf programs. The position is responsible for recruiting, practice planning and skill development, fund-raising, scheduling, academic monitoring, commitment to community service and managing all other aspects related to the men’s and women’s golf programs. Position is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Minnesota State, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The position plans, oversees, and organizes two major golf fundraising events on behalf of the Athletic department (Dean Trauger Golf Classic and Dan Meyer Golf Classic). This position will have the responsibility to coordinate the day-to-day management of the Maverick All-Sports Dome, including dome scheduling and rentals, and hiring, training, scheduling and supervising of student staff. The Coordinator serves as the point of contact for all internal and external rentals of the facility and serves as an expert in the aforementioned areas. The Coordinator participates in the development of strategic plans, goals and objectives for these areas and must communicate effectively in order to marshal cooperative action from students, colleagues, employees, other institutional constituencies, and external users and renters. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management or related field, or equivalent professional training (e.g. PGA of America School) or work experience to equal at least 4 years. Work experience should include a minimum of one (1) year of golf coaching experience at the collegiate level and a minimum of two (2) years of experience developing, administering and implementing recreation/athletic programs, staff supervision and facilities management. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Knowledge of a complex body of practices and procedures in the areas of: facilities management including scheduling, negotiation, developing and reviewing contracts, risk management and daily operations; NCAA recruitment of student-athletes and CARA (Countable Athletically Related Activities) management-practices and procedures need to be carefully followed for eligibility reasons. Knowledge and ability to manage a budget-revenue and expenses-for a collegiate golf program and a sports facility utilized by the university and community. Experience working with computers, including Microsoft office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Negotiation skills and strong decision-maker. Proven organizational, planning, problem solving and assessment skills. Ability to work with a wide range of groups including students, faculty/staff and community. This position requires a valid, applicable driver’s license, as well as DVS records check with an acceptable rating. Preferred Qualifications: CPR, AED, First Aid & Bloodborne Pathogen training. Experience operating utility vehicles such as Gator, Mule, golf cart, etc and pulling and backing up small trailers.
