Job Summary:
The Starter/Ranger plays a key role in ensuring an exceptional golfing experience for all players by managing tee times, maintaining the pace of play, and enforcing course policies in a friendly and professional manner. This position requires excellent customer service skills, strong knowledge of golf course etiquette, and the ability to communicate effectively with players.
Key Responsibilities:
Starter Duties:
Greet golfers and provide information about course conditions, rules, and policies.
Organize and manage tee times to ensure timely starts.
Maintain an orderly flow of players onto the course.
Record player names, start times, and track group progression.
Ranger Duties:
Monitor pace of play and address slow groups diplomatically to maintain proper flow.
Ensure golfers adhere to course rules and etiquette.
Assist golfers with any on-course issues, such as lost clubs or rule clarifications.
Inspect course conditions and report any maintenance concerns to the superintendent.
Enforce cart regulations and direct players to appropriate paths or areas.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong understanding of golf rules, etiquette, and pace-of-play principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage conflict and resolve pace-of-play issues professionally.
Friendly, approachable, and customer-service oriented.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and remain on foot or in a golf cart for extended periods.
Prior experience in golf operations, customer service, or a similar role is preferred but not required.
