QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of golf; ability to work with minimum supervision to perform required duties with initiative, good judgment, integrity, and courtesy. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential. This position requires effective communication with staff, program participants, and their parents as well as the ability to respond effectively and quickly in varying situations. Must have CPR/First Aid Certification or obtain through the Park District within 3 months of hire. Must have valid drivers license and provide own transportation.
Level 1 - Entry level instructor; minimum 16 yrs of age: experience playing golf; experience being instructed by other pros in their past; teaching experience not required. Knowledge on the rules of golf required.
Level 2 - Minimum 18 yrs of age; 1-2 years’ experience playing golf and 1-2 years teaching/coaching youth sports (golf preferably); Knowledge on the rules of golf required.
Level 3 - High school or collegiate level experience playing golf; 2-3 years experience teaching golf; thorough knowledge on the rules and etiquette of golf required.
Level 4- 3-5 years golf instruction experience; High School Or Collegiate golf coaching experience or equivalent
Level 5- Professional Teaching Certification & 3-5 years golf instruction experience
DUTIES
Under the direct supervision of the Golf Program Director and in cooperation with the Racquet Sports and Golf General Manager, this position is responsible for the instruction of youth golf lessons, with a commitment to safety and enjoyment. Instructs Golf Classes/Camps according to course curriculum and as designated by the Golf Program Director. Explains and demonstrates appropriate golf skills & drills for the size and ability level of each class, adapting instruction to different abilities, when necessary. This is an at-will position.
