About the Role
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Racquet Sports is responsible for managing and executing all tennis and pickleball programs at Colorado Springs Country Club. This position combines strategic program development, member instruction, youth program supervision, and facility coordination to deliver exceptional racquet sports experiences aligned with CSCC's vision of becoming members' favorite place to gather, socialize, and recreate.
Compensation: $22.00-$24.00/hour (commensurate with certifications, experience, and qualifications), approximately 1,100 hours annually. Lessons income will be separate from hourly wage.
Reports to: General Manager
Status: Part-time Year-Round Employee (primary hours will be worked during outdoor seasons)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management & Strategic Development
Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive tennis and pickleball programming including USTA teams, junior programs, cardio tennis, clinics, leagues, and member events
Supervise and coordinate all other support staff and as applicable the Head Tennis Professional and Head Pickleball Professional and/or independent contractors
Develop seasonal program calendars serving all demographics (youth, adults, families, seniors)
Research and implement best practices from other successful country clubs
Monitor program quality, participation levels, and member satisfaction
Identify opportunities to increase member visit frequency and engagement
Prepare annual tennis & pickleball calendar; submit to Board for approval; publish in February/March
Develop and implement a good balance of intra-Club organized play & tournaments; alternative to USTA play
Instruction & Teaching
Provide private and group tennis and pickleball lessons for all ages and skill levels (lesson fees collected through club, processed via payroll)
Lead club-sponsored clinics and complimentary member drills
Supervise and deliver youth programs with age-appropriate instruction
Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse abilities and experience levels
Establish and maintain high-quality instruction standards emphasizing positive reinforcement, active learning, and age-appropriate coaching methodologies
Ensure consistency in coaching approach and service excellence across all staff and programs
Member Relations & Engagement
Build positive relationships with members to understand preferences and encourage participation
Foster inclusive, welcoming environment for players of all skill levels
Address member concerns professionally and escalate to management when appropriate
Create fun engaging experiences that encourage members to gather and build friendships
Promote racquet sports as integral part of the CSCC lifestyle
Demonstrate exceptional hospitality and service philosophy in all member and guest interactions
Administrative & Communication Duties
Manage court scheduling, reservations, and facility utilization
Respond promptly to member inquiries via phone, email, and in-person
Create and approve all group communications from racquet sports staff using club technology platforms (emails, newsletters, website, social media)
Order and maintain equipment and supplies within budget parameters
Track program participation, revenues, and prepare reports for management
Attend and actively participate in monthly Activities Committee meetings
Collaborate with committees to understand needs and implement improvements
Safety & Youth Protection
Maintain current Safe Sport certification and comply with all youth protection policies
Ensure safe environment for all participants, especially minors
Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification
Follow club emergency protocols and document incidents appropriately
Conduct regular safety inspections of courts, equipment, and facilities
Ensure proper equipment maintenance and safety standards
Facility Operations
Set up and take down temporary pickleball courts using tape (daily as needed)
Maintain clean and organized facilities including courts, tennis office, and surrounding areas
Perform general maintenance and cleanup tasks to ensure professional appearance and safe conditions
Ensure proper storage, care, and accountability of all racquet sports equipment and supplies
Enforce club Bylaws/Rules, safety protocols, and member conduct policies
Monitor facility usage to optimize court availability
Collaboration & Teamwork
Work cooperatively with Food & Beverage, Facilities, and other departments for events
Coordinate with Activities Committee on strategic planning and member feedback
Partner with independent contractor professionals to ensure unified, high-quality member experience
Participate in club-wide initiatives to enhance overall member satisfaction
Continuous Improvement
Conduct and analyze member satisfaction surveys (targeting measurable improvement goals)
Stay current with racquet sports instruction trends and best practices
Benchmark programs against peer clubs to ensure competitive offerings
Attend relevant professional development opportunities when available
Professional Standards & Conduct
Maintain professional appearance consistent with country club environment (country club attire, clean shoes)
Arrive early to prepare facilities and materials prior to scheduled programs (minimum 10 minutes)
Model positive, enthusiastic, and welcoming demeanor in all interactions
Demonstrate flexibility and team-player attitude in supporting overall club operations
Maintain professional communication standards (concise, proofread, respectful)
Handle challenges constructively and maintain positive attitude regarding weather, scheduling, and operational adjustments
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
RSPA, PTR, and/or PPR certification (or actively pursuing certification)
Knowledge of USTA team operations
Demonstrated experience teaching tennis and/or pickleball to all ages, including youth
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Strong communication and customer service skills
Proficiency with technology and scheduling systems
Must pass comprehensive background check
Safe Sport Certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
Preferred:
Previous country club or private club experience
Experience managing racquet sports programs across multiple demographics
Experience with youth program development and supervision
Demonstrated ability to increase member engagement and participation
SCHEDULE
Seasonal position with variable hours:
Peak season (May-August): ~30+ hours/week
Shoulder season (April, September-October): ~20+ hours/week
Off-season (November-March): ~10 hours/week
Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support member programming.
