SUMMARY: Perform jobs involved in golf course maintenance. Each greens staff member may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate powered equipment in mowing golf course putting greens, aprons, and tees
• Hand water putting greens, tees and fairways
• Grade and prepare a soil planting bed, lay sod; plant vegetative material and seed putting greens, tees, fairways, and roughs
• Change cups and tee markers; fill divots
• Maintain ball washers and water coolers
• Edge cart paths; edge, rake and maintain sand bunkers
• Assist in construction of new greens, tees and fairways by grading, preparing soils and planting
• Operate trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris
• Trim trees and shrubbery; cultivate flowers and shrubs
• Lay walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavate and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools; repair and replace pipe on irrigation systems
• Replace tee towels and flags when needed
• Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment daily
• Return all equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility; clean maintenance areas
• Mark the course for cart control weekly; move cart control barriers and replace worn or lost ropes and signs; and mark hazard and drop areas
• Other duties assigned by Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

Education and/or Experience:
General knowledge of the game of golf. Knowledge of tools, methods, materials used in golf course grounds landscape construction and maintenance work. Ability to safely operate trucks and motorized equipment and follow oral and written directions required.
Language Skills:
Ability to comprehend simple instructions and information such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Should have a valid driver’s license and be physically able to operate equipment.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate all types of equipment, sprayers, and other equipment used in maintaining the golf course.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Must be able to work in temperatures exceeding 90 degrees in the summer and below 20 degrees in the winter.
