About the Role
The Director of Agronomy is responsible for the agronomics producing the playing conditions outlined in the course’s business plans. The Director of Agronomy will attract and develop talent at all levels of golf course maintenance to create a highly functional team. This individual will also focus on the business of agronomy, technology, continuing education and long-term strategic planning.
Qualifications 7+ years turf grass management experience required. 5+ years of multi-course experience. Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices, working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods, and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf. Ability to develop agronomic plans and course standard programs, both short and long-term, in compliance with the course’s business goals along.
Capability to teach course superintendents on how to build these plans, including the focus on business results. Exceptional record-keeping and data-driven analysis of maintenance practices linking agronomic decisions directly to course conditioning and the club’s financial performance. Advanced knowledge of entire golf course financials; including budgets, monthly tracking, P&L statements, cash flow statements, short- & long-term capital planning, balance sheets, general ledgers, inventories and other necessary reporting tools.
Highly competent with computer and phone application use, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), payroll, accounting, compliance, data management, and other relevant applications such as irrigation system(s) programming, operation and management. Extensive history of growing turfgrass industry professionals into promotions including Golf Course Superintendents.
Audubon
