About the Role
At Turf Valley Resort, our (2) 18-Hole Championship Golf Courses cover 1,000 acres in Central Maryland. Our facilities has a two sided range one seasonal, one year-round, short game area, practice hole, indoor teaching facility with 2 hitting bays in addition to the lodging with over 400 rooms, spa, outdoor and indoor pool, fitness center, multiple banquet and conference centers.
Our staffs goal is to accomplish our marketing campaign of "Stay, Play, and Relax" for our resort guests, and our membership of 500+ golf memberships, and 200+ social memberships.

The First Assistant Professional will play a critical role in the overall golf operation. This position works closely with the Professional Staff while gaining exposure to every aspect of the operation, providing a well-rounded and immersive learning experience. Exceptional performance during your tenure may lead to an Assistant Professional position.
This is a year-round position with candidates expected to accept a Head Professional or Director of Golf position in the future in the next 3-5.

Experience Required
We expect all applicants to possess above par knowledge of both the game of golf and the business of golf.
Additional experience is a plus for all applicants. Experience in the areas listed below is preferred but not required.

Essential Responsibilities
The First Assistant Golf Professional will play an integral leadership role within the golf operation and will be responsible for the successful execution of the following duties and responsibilities in support of the Club’s service standards, daily operations, and overall member experience:
Oversee the entire golf operation in the absence of the Head Professional.
Spread hospitality among all members, guests, and resort guests.
Conduct and facilitate member golf events through knowledge and proficiency related to various recourses, Golf Genius, USGA Rules of Golf, Cap Patrol, etc.
Provide qualified professional golf instruction in both individual and group clinic settings, with additional Certifications (US Kids Golf Certified Coach, e.g.)
Manage and oversee the Outside Operations & Pro Shop Staff.
Play with our members as requested when opportunities are present.
Continue to work on individual golf skills sets goals for Career Enhancement & Professional Development.
Assist in making sure the golf shop is maintained in a neat and clean manner daily, and will be proactive in the Merchandising and Inventory Control.
Organize the receiving and pricing of merchandise with the Professional Staff.
Ensure the daily, weekly and monthly procedures are being followed by Staff and communicate with Professional staff.
Attend monthly Golf Operations Meeting & Greens-Grounds Meeting to provide input and plan to improve operation.
Short Term & Long Term Planning ideas and research in future projects.
Oversee Professional Staff scheduling to assure proper performance.
