Takes a lead role in managing the pro shop and associated services, scheduling and overseeing golf play and the daily operation of the pro shop. Key Functions Assumes management of the pro shop and associated services; creates a friendly, welcoming environment Provides supervision and training of staff for both inside and outside services to include cart staff, starters, rangers, marshals. Supervisory duties include scheduling; instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; works with GM to select new employees; act on employee problems; and recommending employee discipline and discharge High level knowledge of the POS system; able to train staff and troubleshoot issues. Supervises the work of pro shop attendants for guest service and quality, ensuring guest transactions are accurate and complete; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers training and assistance as needed Understands and interprets the rules of golf and makes decisions on golf rulings Maintains a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations and technique Schedules and conducts golf lessons/ clinics Monitors range setup, including rotation Coordinates orders, stocks, markets and sells pro shop merchandise; orders necessary equipment and supplies Rents golf carts; collects greens fees; assigns tee times; ensures efficient flow of play on course Responsible for course set up for events and tournaments Manages and promotes tournaments to include: registering participants and managing all tournament events to include setup, scoring, prizes, announcements and billing Manages golf handicap system for customers Supports local school teams with instruction and tips. Supports LSC partners such as MLG, First Tee of Charlotte Becomes acquainted with members and other frequent golfers and develops positive rapport with members and guests Performs routine administrative/office duties, including reconciliation of daily cashier reports, verifies and edits payroll hours, monthly petty cash reports, maintains inventory and processes monthly reports, attends meetings, maintains financial records, enters computer data, answers the telephone, etc Manage food and beverage items for sale; ensures cleanliness of clubhouse, restrooms on the course, carts, parking area and arrival experience Coordinate with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate payroll and accounting procedures Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community Promotes safety of members, guests, and staff every day All other duties as assigned Additional Job Functions Performs related duties as required. REPORTING TO THIS POSITION Pro shop attendants, cart attendants, starters, rangers, range staff Minimum Training And Experience Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by three to five years of golf course experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge of USGA rules, handicap, course rating system.Demonstrated understanding of golf skills and ability to instructAbility to coordinate and expedite golf activities such as tournaments, outings, lessonsSuperior communication skillsStrong leadership skills; able to lead and direct the work of others To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
