Stonycroft Hills Club

Club background:

Stonycroft Hills Club is a member-owned and operated, private nine-hole golf club located in the heart of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. As an equity-based membership club, Stonycroft is managed by a Board of Directors, volunteer committees and a General Manager. The Club property and course were purchased and incorporated in 1960 as Stonycroft Hills Club.

The Club has grown to a membership consisting of 270 shareholders and their spouses/significant others with an average age of 68 years old. Members recently joining are skewing younger with 65% between the ages of 50-69. Stonycroft is a small member club and utilizes a great deal of volunteer time from the members to operate the club. Stonycroft is primarily a seasonal operation with members active from April through October.

Many social events are offered during the off season for those who remain in Michigan year-round. The Golf Professional is a year-round employee.

By the Numbers

18,000 - 9-hole rounds per year

Active spring and fall leagues - 120 men and 105 women

Full calendar of tournaments and events including invitationals, mixed scrambles, social events and matches.

Qualifications and/or Experience

Preference for 5 or more years of management experience as the head golf professional preferably at a private golf club.

Knowledgeable about and competency in business software utilized for the golf operations of the club. Familiar with Golf Genius and Fore Up a plus.

Excellent analytical and financial skills to develop and monitor budgets so that the golf operations are within the prescribed budgets.

Superior interpersonal skills to work with employees, club members, Board of Directors, club committees, and guests using the course.

Ability to monitor people, processes, and control systems for the achievement of the desired success of the golf operations.

Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, leadership and oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, work in teams and be flexible with a fast-paced and changing environment.

Pro shop merchandising and inventory controls.

Compensation

Excellent base salary with the opportunity to participate in pro shop profit sharing.
