ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Each lifeguard is responsible for being familiar with the American Red Cross Lifeguard Manual as well as the Prairie Dunes Procedures and Policies/Pool Handbook.
Vacuums pool bottom; empties automatic skimmer; skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use, cleans & polishes rails & ladders, cleans pool decks.
Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
Maintains amenities in and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms and showers, stocks towels, cups & water
Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by the Pool Supervisor or Instructors.
Enforces rules of conduct.
Helps to provide individual and group swim lessons as requested.
Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items to Pool Manager/Supervisor.
Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics Emergency Action Plan as required.
Maintains all necessary records determined by the Pool Supervisor.
Attends all meetings as directed by the Pool Supervisor.
Consistent reliable attendance; more attendance needed for big holidays.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Current lifeguard certification preferred, will certify the right candidate (Red Cross certification age requirements apply)
Must have current CPR/First Aid, BLS or equivalent certification prior to hire date
Must have a friendly and positive personality
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic
PHYSICAL DEMANDS – ABILITY TO:.
Ability to stand, walk frequently; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Ability to perform the duties of this job while exposed to outside weather conditions.
Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.
A lifeguard at Prairie Dunes Country Club is responsible for maintaining a safe swimming environment by actively monitoring patrons, enforcing pool rules, and responding quickly to emergencies. They provide first aid, CPR, and water rescues when needed while ensuring all safety equipment is properly maintained and accessible. Lifeguards also assist with opening and closing duties, communicate professionally with guests, and help create a positive and enjoyable experience for all pool visitors.
Due to the cyclical nature of our industry, Club Employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Club. Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the company’s rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facilities. Associates who violate the rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
