Pro Shop Assistant

About the position Performs a variety of functions to ensure that the golf pro-shop and its ancillary components are operated in an efficient and professional manner on a day-to-day basis. This role requires impeccable customer service, social perceptiveness, and the ability to handle complaints and support conflict resolutions. The assistant will use proprietary software to schedule tee times, manage the flow of play, and handle time-sensitive customer service transactions in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include end-of-day reconciliation of cash and credit transactions, creating product promotion suggestions, and assisting customers to enhance their experiences. A thorough knowledge of the pro-shop environment, including golf fees, cart rentals, merchandise, and food/beverage concessions (including alcohol sales in compliance with laws), is necessary. The role involves significant cash handling, explaining course policies, and exercising good judgment in response to changing situations. The assistant will also operate and clean food and beverage equipment, multitask, follow cart fleet maintenance guidelines, and assist with janitorial duties. Evening, weekend, and holiday work are required, along with the ability to work a flexible schedule. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining consistent onsite attendance and punctuality. The Pro Shop Assistant supervises employees under the guidance of the Pro Shop Supervisor. Responsibilities Ensure the golf pro-shop and its ancillary components are operated in an efficient and professional manner.Provide impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness.Handle complaints and support conflict resolutions.Use proprietary software to schedule, assign, and announce tee times, ensuring the start and flow of play are managed.Provide time-sensitive customer service transactions in a fast-paced environment.Perform end-of-day processes and procedures, including reconciliation of cash and credit transactions.Create suggestions for product promotions and assist customers to enhance their experiences.Maintain in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the pro-shop environment, including golf fees, golf cart rentals, merchandise, and food and beverage concessions.Handle food and alcohol sales in compliance with federal and state laws.Handle significant cash transactions, including counting paper and coin monies and counting back change.Explain course policies, procedures, and rules.Exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations.Operate and clean all food and beverage equipment in pro-shop and patio areas.Flex duties and responsibilities and multitask throughout the shift.Follow preventative maintenance guidelines regarding the cart fleet.Assist with janitorial duties in and around the clubhouse and cart storage area as needed.Work evenings, weekends, and holidays with a flexible schedule and duties.Work independently and as a member of a team.Maintain regular and consistent onsite attendance and punctuality.Supervise employees in their assigned workspace under the guidance and final approval of the Pro Shop Supervisor.Requirements Sufficient training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills, and qualifications.High School Diploma or general education degree.2 years of experience in golf operations, golf pro-shop, or equivalent type experience.Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite to include Publisher and Excel.Must obtain and maintain for duration of employment, an Arizona Food Handlers Card.Must obtain and maintain for duration of employment, an Arizona Liquor Law Training Certification.Valid Arizona driver's license and good driving record for insurance purposes.Must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license at all times.Must obtain and maintain for duration of employment, a Certified Food Protection Managers Card within 30 days of hire.Nice-to-haves Experience working in a retail space.Experience working and servicing in an active adult community.
