About the Role Our client, a premier establishment in the **Leisure & Sports** industry, is seeking an experienced and energetic Manager of Golf Operations and Instruction for their facility in **Grand Rapids, Michigan**. This multifaceted role is responsible for the seamless day-to-day management of all golf operations, including course play, practice facilities, and retail pro shop. Critically, this position also oversees all instructional programs, ensuring high-quality golf education for members and guests. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen, exceptional customer service skills, and a deep passion for the game of golf. This is a key on-site role dedicated to enhancing the golf experience for the **Grand Rapids, Michigan** community. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of daily golf operations, including tee time management, player assistance, and course condition monitoring. Manage and direct the golf instruction department, including scheduling lessons, clinics, and golf schools. Supervise, train, and mentor golf professionals, instructors, and starter/marshal staff. Manage the golf shop inventory, merchandising, and sales, ensuring profitability and optimal stock levels. Develop and implement strategic plans to increase rounds played, lesson bookings, and retail sales. Ensure a high level of customer service and a positive experience for all golfers. Develop and manage the golf operations budget, controlling expenses and optimizing revenue streams. Collaborate with the course maintenance team to ensure optimal playing conditions. Organize and execute golf tournaments, events, and member activities. Maintain professional standards of conduct and appearance for all golf staff. Stay current with trends in golf operations, instruction, and technology. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Golf Management, Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field. PGA Class A Professional certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf operations management, with significant experience in golf instruction. Proven experience in staff management, budget oversight, and retail management within a golf environment. Strong knowledge of golf course operations, tournament management, and teaching methodologies. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in golf management software (e.g., Jonas, ForeTees) and POS systems. Passion for golf and commitment to providing excellent service to golfers of all skill levels. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the golf season. Experience in club fitting and knowledge of golf equipment is a plus. Must be able to perform on-site duties and interact directly with guests and members.
