Assistant Director of Golf
Golf Course in Arcadia, California is looking for an Assistant Director of Golf.
Position Overview:
Assists in the direction of the County’s public golf course operations including the development, implementation, and operation of specialized county golf programs.
Assists the Golf Director in the following activities:
• Directs, through lessees, the operation and maintenance of golf course facilities and the scheduling of routine games of golf and special events such as junior, adult, senior citizen and charitable golf tournaments and outings.
• Administers, evaluates and may recommend County golf course policies and procedures related to operations and play to ensure that public service needs are met.
• Establishes, administers, and evaluates specialized golf programs policies and procedures for operations and activities.
Develops, designs, and schedules golf special events such as competitions, clinics, workshops, and lessons.
• Directs and controls the ordering of materials, supplies and equipment for specialized golf programs within existing departmental policies and procedures.
• Evaluates and monitors the golf course system operation and the progress of capital improvement projects.
• Monitors and enforces management lessees performance of contractual obligations in maintenance service, starter and concession operations, and other golf operations.
• Researches, applies for, and tracks various types of grants, as well as, local sources of revenue to carry out specialized golf program operations and activities.
• Investigates or supervises the investigation of complaints by the public and the department regarding golf course facility operations and recommends solutions.
• Evaluates and prepares reports on staff assigned to golf course facilities to ensure proper maintenance and service to the public.
• Speaks to community, civic, governmental and professional groups in order to foster interest in golf programs and maintain a positive public image for the department.
• Directs the publishing and distribution of informational and promotional literature.
• Prepares correspondence and reports; compiles a variety of golf statistical reports for departmental information.
Requirements:
Option 1:
A Bachelor’s degree* from an accredited college with specialization in golf course management, park management, turf management, landscape architecture, horticulture or agronomy AND One year of experience in the supervision of a golf course operation.
Note: Professional experience as a golf course manager or superintendent at a recognized public or private golf course facility may be substituted for the education requirements on a year-for-year basis OR Five years of experience in the supervision of golf course operations.
OR
Option 2:
An Associate of Arts degree* from an accredited college with a specialization in golf course management, park management, turf management, landscape architecture, horticulture or agronomy-AND- Three years of experience in the supervision of a golf course operation.
Note: Professional experience as a golf course manager or superintendent at a recognized public or private golf course facility may be substituted for the education requirements on a year-for-year basis OR Five years of experience in the supervision of golf course operations.
Desirable Qualifications:
Additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirements.
Experience with capital projects in irrigation, turf improvements, clubhouse remodels, or major construction with bunker improvements, green improvements, or cart path improvements.
Experience with developing and designing junior golf programs or charitable programs and tournaments.
Experience with golf instruction or tournament administration.
Class A Membership from Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) Membership.
Compensation:
$81,880.32 – $110,346.72 per year.
