Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Club in Greenwich, Connecticut is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
This position is designed as a springboard for the candidate to their first Superintendent job. The position will receive hands-on project ownership, visible leadership opportunities, and structured professional development that will read exceptionally well to hiring committees. Active mentorship will sharpen your interview materials, and expand your network so that your time at Round Hill Club becomes the strongest chapter on your resume.
Reporting to the Superintendent, you will help lead daily operations and key initiatives:
• Plan and execute daily maintenance: mowing, irrigation, chemical/fertilizer applications, and cultural practices.
• Supervise, train, and inspire a seasonal and full-time team; reinforce safety and efficiency.
• Operate and help maintain turf equipment and irrigation systems; assist with setup/diagnostics.
• Monitor turf performance (moisture, disease, traffic/wear) and recommend data-driven adjustments.
• Support budgeting, recordkeeping, and inventory management with discipline and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Communicate across departments and model a positive, team-first culture.
• Be directly involved in planning and executing the Andrew Green Master Plan.
• Uphold and improve our budget management systems and protocols.
Requirements
• Degree from an accredited 2- or 4-year turf or related program preferred.
• Current experience as an Assistant preferred.
• Ability to work independently from written and verbal instructions; strong follow-through.
• Keen eye for course conditions and clubhouse grounds standards.
• Excellent organization and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
• High motivation with a positive, team-first attitude.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with GPS sprayers preferred.
• (Preferred) Current pesticide applicator license—or the ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to lead.
Compensation
$90,000 to $95,000 per year.
