The Head Golf Professional leads all aspects of the golf operation and Golf Shop, ensuring exceptional service, strong financial performance, and an outstanding daily golf experience for Members and guests. This role oversees golf operations staff, manages merchandising and budgets, and delivers tournaments, outings, and instructional programs that drive engagement and participation.
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations Leadership
Direct daily golf operations in alignment with Heritage Golf Group standards and service philosophyEnsure a welcoming, professional experience for all Members and guestsMaintain daily pace of play and oversee tee sheet managementMaintain a visible presence with Members and guests to promote engagement and service excellenceSupport the continued growth of golf participation, Member engagement, and player development programsTeam Leadership & Staffing
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and develop Assistant Professionals and Golf Operations team membersConduct performance reviews and support ongoing employee developmentEnsure professional appearance standards and uniform complianceFoster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on service excellenceGolf Shop & Merchandising
Manage Golf Shop operations, presentation, and service standardsPartner with Heritage Golf Group on merchandise planning, purchasing, and inventory controlMaintain ordering, receiving, and inventory processes to meet profitability and cost-of-sales goalsDevelop merchandising displays and promotions that enhance the Member experiencePrograms, Events & Tournaments
Plan and administer the club tournament calendar and promotional programsOrganize and execute Member tournaments, leagues, clinics, and special golf eventsAssist in planning and executing corporate outings and charity tournamentsSupport development of marketing and promotional materials for golf programmingOutside Operations & Facilities
Oversee driving range, cart fleet, bag storage, club repair, starter and ranger operationsEnsure facilities, equipment, and service areas meet Club standardsCoordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent and leadership team to ensure an exceptional golf experienceFinancial & Administrative Responsibilities
Develop and manage the annual golf operations budgetAssist the General Manager with capital planning and long-term improvementsMonitor expenses, labor, and operational performance to meet financial goalsMaintain accurate scheduling, tee time reservations, reporting, and communications
Experience Required
PGA Membership or active pursuit preferredPrivate club experience preferred3+ years of golf operations leadership experienceStrong leadership, merchandising, and tournament management skillsProven ability to manage budgets, staff, and daily operationsExcellent communication and Member service skillsAbility to work weekends, holidays, and peak golf season hours
