About the Role
Join a prestigious golf club located in Jacksonville, Florida, US , seeking a highly skilled and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to manage the maintenance and overall health of our championship golf course. This role requires a deep understanding of turfgrass management, agronomy, and a passion for creating pristine playing conditions. The Superintendent will lead a dedicated grounds crew, manage budgets, and implement innovative practices to ensure the course is always in tournament-ready condition. This is a hands-on role that demands a commitment to excellence and a proactive approach to turf care.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control, and bunker maintenance. Develop and implement an annual agronomic plan to ensure optimal turf health and playing conditions. Manage and direct the daily activities of the grounds maintenance staff, providing training and supervision. Create and manage the course maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards. Operate and maintain all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. Monitor weather patterns and adjust maintenance practices accordingly. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to minimize chemical applications. Oversee irrigation system management and repairs. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and water conservation practices. Collaborate with the Head Golf Professional and Club Management on course improvements and special projects. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment usage. Foster a safe working environment for all staff members. Qualifications:
Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. In-depth knowledge of turfgrass varieties, soil science, and pest/disease management. Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively. Strong understanding of golf course operations and maintenance practices. Experience with budget management and cost control. Proficiency in operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment. Knowledge of irrigation systems and their repair. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. GCSAA certification is highly preferred. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
