Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Compensation: $22.00 per hour Under the leadership of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for golf course maintenance operations and staff to ensure the healthy growth of the golf course and clubhouse grounds, grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials. The Assistant's duties include assessing and providing guidance and expertise to maintain rigorous industry and environmental standards in turf quality, including the use of specialized knowledge in various fields of agronomy and horticulture. • 2 – 3 years’ experience in Golf Course Maintenance. • Minimum 2-year College Agronomy Degree. • Virginia State Pesticide Applicators License. • Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and recordkeeping as required by local, state, and federal laws. • Team player able to foster relationships with Members and Employees Additional duties not mentioned here may be assigned as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the Club. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in keeping turf and landscapes in top condition. Key Responsibilities: • Mow greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using various turf equipment • Perform daily course setup, including raking bunkers and setting tee markers • Assist with irrigation checks, hand‑watering, and basic repairs • Trim, edge, and maintain landscaping around the course • Operate utility vehicles and small tools safely • Support seasonal projects such as aeration, seeding, and sod work Qualifications: • Ability to work early mornings and outdoors in various weather • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks • Previous grounds or landscaping experience is helpful but not required Work Environment: Outdoor, team‑oriented role with daily variety and hands‑on tasks.
