Miramont Country Club, located in Bryan, Texas, is a premier private club committed to delivering an exceptional experience for our Members and guests. We are seeking a professional, energetic and service-driven Banquet Captain to help lead the execution of weddings, Member events, private functions and Club events while ensuring exceptional service from setup through completion.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading and coordinating banquet service to ensure events are executed smoothly and according to Club standards. Reporting to the Director of Catering, this hands-on leadership role directs banquet staff, coordinates setup and breakdown, assigns service stations and ensures Banquet Event Order (BEO) specifications are followed.

The Banquet Captain may independently lead smaller functions while assisting in a leadership capacity for larger events, weddings and Club-wide functions. This role is ideal for an organized, confident and hospitality-focused professional who enjoys leading a team and creating memorable experiences for Members and guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads banquet staff throughout events, ensuring proper pacing, service standards, professionalism, and attention to detail. Reviews banquet event orders, floor plans, menus, timelines, guest counts, special requests, and dietary restrictions before each event. Participates in pre-event meetings with culinary, event, facilities, and service teams to confirm responsibilities and event readiness. Inspects event spaces before service to ensure cleanliness, proper setup, equipment readiness, and overall presentation. Conducts pre-shift meetings to communicate event schedules, menus, service expectations, safety requirements, and staff responsibilities. Directs banquet setup according to approved floor plans and Club standards, including tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, and service stations. Assigns stations, setup duties, and service responsibilities to banquet team members. Coordinates with the culinary team to ensure proper course timing, food quality, and accommodation of dietary requests. Serves as the primary operational contact for event hosts, event managers, and designated members during functions.. Anticipates guest needs and resolve service concerns promptly, professionally, and discreetly. Monitors staff performance and provide coaching to maintain consistent service standards. Ensures compliance with responsible alcohol service policies, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Maintains accurate records of attendance, meal counts, beverages, additional charges, breakage, and incidents. Directs event breakdown, cleaning, equipment storage, linen handling, and room resets for upcoming functions. Trains banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff on service standards, event procedures, menu knowledge, and member recognition. Completes post-event reports and communicate feedback, service issues, maintenance needs, and follow-up items to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent. A genuine and enthusiastic personality with a passion for customer service. Ability to handle many tasks at once. Must be able to handle stress in a healthy and professional manner. Must be able to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations. Ability to keep information confidential and operate with honesty and integrity.

Preferred:

Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in restaurant, hotel/resort or private club food and beverage operations. Previous banquet, catering or event service experience.

Licenses and Special Requirements:

Food Handler's Certification Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages Current TABC Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel and reach; use hands to handle objects and equipment; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and work in environments with moderate noise levels and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.

Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, including the ability to view computer screens and paperwork. The position also requires the flexibility to work irregular and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
