Golf Pro Shop Manager
Country Club in Stafford, Virginia is looking for a Golf Pro Shop Manager.
Position Overview:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the golf course pro shop. This role includes managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining inventory, and coordinating with other departments to enhance the overall guest experience. Also responsible for sales, merchandising, and maintaining an attractive and efficient retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
o Provide exceptional customer service to all guests, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
o Ensure staff deliver a high standard of service, creating a welcoming and friendly environment.
2. Staff Management:
o Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise pro shop staff.
o Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
o Foster a positive and productive team environment.
3. Inventory Management:
o Maintain optimal inventory levels of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
o Conduct regular inventory checks and manage reordering processes.
o Ensure merchandise is displayed attractively and kept organized.
4. Sales and Merchandising:
o Develop and implement sales strategies to meet revenue targets.
o Plan and execute promotional activities and tournaments to drive sales.
o Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as needed to optimize results.
5. Financial Management:
o Manage the pro shop budget, including sales forecasting and expense control.
o Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights to the General Manager.
o Handle cash, process transactions, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
6. Coordination and Communication:
o Collaborate with the golf course maintenance superintendent and team to ensure seamless guest experiences.
o Coordinate and develop promotional campaigns, social media updates, reports and articles for publication.
o Communicate effectively with vendors, supplier and the golf association.
o Communicate effectively with the General Manager, resident Golf Committee.
7. Facility Maintenance:
o Ensure the pro shop is clean, well-maintained, and safe for staff and guests.
o Oversee the maintenance and functionality of pro shop equipment and fixtures.
o Ensure that the club owned or leased golf cart fleet is regularly gassed, serviced and cleaned.
8. Compliance and Policies:
o Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business, retail management, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience in retail management, preferably in a golf or sports environment.
Strong knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in retail management software and point-of-sale systems.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry merchandise and equipment up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
Ability to drive a golf cart.
