Assistant Mechanic

Suntree Country Club is seeking a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Assistant Mechanic to join our Agronomy Department.

Suntree Country Club features two 18-hole championship golf courses, the Classic and Challenge, along with extensive practice facilities. Maintaining these facilities to the highest standards requires a reliable, well-maintained equipment fleet and a dedicated maintenance team.

Under the direction of the Equipment Manager, the Assistant Mechanic will assist with the inspection, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of golf course maintenance equipment. This individual will work collaboratively with the equipment maintenance team and golf course superintendents to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and consistently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance and Repair •Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair golf course maintenance equipment, including reel mowers, rotary mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, sprayers, and other specialized turf equipment. •Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, hydraulic system inspections, and routine equipment servicing. •Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and assist in completing necessary repairs. •Read and interpret equipment service manuals, technical diagrams, and electrical and hydraulic schematics. •Assist with welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications when necessary and within demonstrated competency. •Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and assist with emergency repairs in the field to minimize operational downtime.

Quality of Cut and Equipment Performance •Assist in maintaining exceptional quality-of-cut standards across all playing surfaces, including greens, tees, fairways, approaches, and roughs. •Inspect, adjust, sharpen, and grind cutting units to ensure proper reel-to-bedknife contact and cutting performance. •Perform daily equipment inspections and adjustments to maintain proper heights of cut and consistent mowing performance. •Work closely with the Equipment Manager and golf course superintendents to address mowing concerns and equipment performance. •Monitor equipment performance throughout daily operations and proactively identify potential mechanical issues.

Shop Operations and Safety •Maintain a clean, organized, and professional equipment maintenance facility. •Properly maintain and organize shop tools, equipment, replacement parts, and supplies. •Assist with tracking equipment maintenance records, repair history, parts inventory, and preventative maintenance schedules. •Follow all Club safety policies, equipment operating procedures, and applicable environmental regulations. •Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of oils, fuels, chemicals, and other maintenance materials. •Promote a safe and productive working environment.

Golf Course Operations and Team Support •Assist the Agronomy Department with daily golf course maintenance assignments when needed. •Operate golf course maintenance equipment safely and effectively. •Support tournament preparation and special events requiring additional equipment servicing or maintenance support. •Communicate effectively with the Equipment Manager, superintendents, and fellow team members regarding equipment availability and repair needs. •Perform additional duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager or Director of
