PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
Breton Bay Golf & Country Club boasts one of the finest 18-hole golf facilities in the area, with breathtaking views of the Bay ready to welcome you at the first tee. The course provides five tee options to accommodate all playing levels. Club amenities include a full-length driving range, practice chipping and putting green, a fully stocked golf shop, locker rooms, a large aquatic facility, tennis courts, and it is home to the Ironwood Grill for relaxing after your round. It has been the host of the Southern Maryland Amateur Invitational since 1978, with over 180 competitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, the Head Golf Course Superintendent’s primary responsibility is maintaining turf areas on the golf course, which consist of bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways. The superintendent will supervise and train the maintenance staff to provide golf course/playing conditions that meet the expectations of members and guests, within established budgetary guidelines. Responsibilities include overseeing staff selection, employee reviews, training, and scheduling; supervising all course operations, including irrigation, seasonal agronomic practices, and the application of pesticides, fertilizers, and soil conditioners. The superintendent should possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate the maintenance team daily. Additionally, under the supervision of the General Manager, they will maintain club amenities, including the clubhouse, aquatic facilities, and tennis courts, and oversee contractors for maintenance or repairs beyond staff expertise. Effective communication with the Pro Shop staff regarding daily operations, events, and maintenance schedules is essential. The superintendent must also maintain and process timesheets for maintenance staff.
Experience with push-up bent grass greens in the Mid-Atlantic transitional area is required.
