Mayacoo Lakes was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead in 1971, making Mayacoo Lakes one of the first courses designed by Jack Nicklaus. Soon after the club opened in 1972, Mayacoo Lakes was rated in the top 100 by Golf Digest—the first of many awards the club would receive. In 2007, the golf course underwent a major renovation project, ultimately leading Mayacoo Lakes to win Golf Digest’s “America’s Best New Course–Best New Remodeled Category” Award in 2008. Mayacoo Lakes boasts over 325 members and takes pride in having a fun and very challenging golf course. The Club has been a regular host to the PGA TOUR Monday Qualifier for the Honda Classic as well as a host site for many USGA Qualifiers and FSGA Championships. The course and practice facilities will be undergoing a renovation/restoration project beginning in April of 2027 lead by architect, Kipp Schulties.
