Position Overview
Island Country Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Golf Professional to join our leadership team. This individual will work closely with the Director of Golf to deliver a premier golf experience for our members and guests while supporting the overall mission and values of the club. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of staff development, member engagement, and operational excellence.
The Head Golf Professional will oversee the daily golf operations, provide high-level instruction, lead a cohesive team of golf professionals, and ensure that the club's standards of service, professionalism, and hospitality are consistently upheld.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Development
Lead, mentor, and manage the professional golf staff with a focus on accountability, growth, and morale.
Foster a positive, team‑oriented culture where communication, respect, and development are prioritized.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training staff members while setting clear expectations and goals.
Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities for the team.
Act as a role model in behavior, appearance, and standards, representing the values of Island Country Club.
Enforce Club rules and policies consistently.
Instruction & Player Development
Deliver high‑quality individual and group instruction to golfers of all skill levels using a clear and consistent communication.
Oversee the club's player development programs including clinics and women's golf initiatives.
Leverage technology and swing analysis tools to enhance the instructional experience.
Maintain active engagement with members to understand their goals, provide instruction, and foster long‑term relationships.
Tournament & Event Operations
Manage and execute a full calendar of club tournaments, member events, and outside outings with exceptional attention to detail.
Utilize Golf Genius or other tournament software to handle pairings, scoring, rules, and communication.
Collaborate with other departments (Golf Course Maintenance, F&B, Membership) to ensure seamless event execution.
Serve as a key on‑course presence during events, providing leadership and service.
Rules & Governance
Possess a deep understanding of the USGA Rules of Golf and demonstrate the ability to apply them with clarity and fairness.
Serve as the in‑house rules authority and mentor staff on proper application during tournaments and regular play.
Ensure that all competitions are conducted in accordance with USGA guidelines and club policies.
Daily Operations
Support the Director of Golf in managing all aspects of golf operations, including tee time management, pace of play, and member satisfaction.
Help oversee inventory control, merchandising, and golf shop operations as needed.
Monitor and contribute to the financial performance of golf operations in alignment with club goals.
Assist with outside operation management, practice facilities, and golf instruction areas.
Worker Compensation & Physical Requirements
Must regularly stand and walk for prolonged periods; able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
Must have physical ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and reach as required by golf operations.
Promote safe work habits to minimize risk and ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety regulations.
Support a safe environment for staff, members, and guests at all times.
Qualifications
PGA Class A Member in good standing (required).
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in private club golf operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Proven leadership skills with a history of building trust, developing teams, and fostering a strong workplace culture.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with members, guests, and staff in a respectful and professional manner.
Strong instructional background with a clearly defined teaching philosophy and effective communication style.
Advanced knowledge of USGA Rules of Golf; experience serving as a Rules Official is a plus.
Exceptional tournament operations experience; proficiency with Golf Genius is preferred.
Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
