About the Role Our client, a premier golf club located in the vibrant city of Tampa, Florida , is seeking an experienced and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to manage the meticulous upkeep and presentation of their renowned 18-hole championship course. This pivotal role ensures the highest standards of turfgrass quality, course conditioning, and overall playability, contributing directly to the exceptional member and guest experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agronomy, a passion for golf, and strong leadership skills to guide a team of groundskeepers. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for all turf areas, including greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Oversee daily course maintenance operations, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and bunker management. Manage and maintain all golf course equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition and utilized efficiently. Supervise, train, and mentor a team of grounds maintenance staff, fostering a safe and productive work environment. Monitor weather conditions and adjust maintenance schedules accordingly to optimize turf health and playability. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and budget expenditures. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in golf course management, with at least 2 years in a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent role. GCSAA Class A certification or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe. Proficiency in irrigation system management and turfgrass disease diagnosis and control. Strong knowledge of golf course equipment operation and maintenance. Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent communication skills.
