About the Role
Our client, a premier recreational facility, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Golf Operations to oversee all aspects of their golf course and related amenities. This leadership position requires a passion for the sport, exceptional operational management skills, and a commitment to providing an unparalleled guest experience. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, financial management, staff supervision, and marketing efforts for the golf facility, ensuring profitability and member satisfaction. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of golf course management, agronomy, and customer service excellence.
Responsibilities: Manage the daily operations of the golf course, including tee time scheduling, cart fleet management, and player assistance. Oversee all golf-related services, including the pro shop, club storage, and practice facilities. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the golf experience, increase rounds played, and drive revenue. Manage the golf budget, P&L statements, and financial performance of the golf operations. Lead, train, and supervise the golf operations staff, including golf professionals, outside services personnel, and starter/marshal. Develop and execute marketing and promotional strategies to attract new golfers and retain existing members. Ensure the highest standards of course presentation and playability in collaboration with the Golf Course Superintendent. Manage inventory and merchandising for the golf pro shop, ensuring profitability. Develop and oversee golf tournaments, leagues, and special events. Maintain positive relationships with members, guests, and the local golf community. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in golf operations. Prepare regular reports on golf operations performance for senior management. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Golf Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. PGA/LPGA certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in golf operations management, preferably at a high-end facility. Proven track record in financial management, P&L responsibility, and revenue generation within golf operations. Strong understanding of golf course agronomy, course maintenance standards, and equipment management. Experience in staff leadership, training, and development. Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in golf operations software (e.g., Jonas, ForeTees, Lightspeed) and POS systems. Knowledge of marketing principles and event planning. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
