Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide pace of play management and enhance both the members and resort guests experience, with the focus primarily being courses No. 2 and No. 4.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Display friendliness and willingness to help Members, Guests, Visitors, Business Partners and fellow Employee Partners at all times.Be knowledgeable regarding the general rules and play of golf.Monitor & support groups on courses No.2 & No.4 to uphold our pace of play expectations each dayPerform Starter/Ranger duties, while also supervising the overall pace of play on courses No.2 & No.4.Assist in managing, supervising, and organizing the day-to-day operation of the Starters/Rangers.Inform players about daily course conditions, special playing conditions, pace of play expectations, suggested tees to play from, and any general guidelines regarding play at Pinehurst each day. Ability to solve problems and maintain a solution minded attitude.Analyze data from our pace of play system software and utilize the information in daily practices to enhance the Member and Guest experience. Awareness of the tee sheet through our tee time software and auditing of the tee sheet.Produce daily, weekly, and monthly pace of play reports.Reading, analyzing, and formulating items that can be improved through our resort guest surveys.Assist in producing Employee Partner work schedules for the Starters/Rangers.Ensure Member or Guest issues and concerns are promptly handled and followed up with accordingly.Keep accurate records and perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time such as returning abandoned carts, delivering messages, people, and equipment to the respective groups on the golf course. Be physically able to operate a golf cart, getting in and out periodically for several hours a day. Standing for long periods of time, riding in a golf cart on rough terrain, and working in all weather conditions.Observe all safety and security procedures. Use equipment and material properly. Report potentially unsafe conditions.Must be aware of surroundings with an understanding of a golf environment. Must have the ability to see and react to the surroundings including errant golf balls and must understand and follow proper golf etiquette while completing tasks.Adhere to all Property and Department policies and procedures. Perform other job duties as assigned & assist the Golf Professional Staff as directed.Must be knowledgeable and aware of pace of play procedure & staffing on course Nos. 1, 3 & 5
Supervisory Responsibities
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of specified employees within Golf Operations. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
