Assistant Golf Professional

Club Overview Cleveland Country Club is a private, member-owned club located in Shelby, NC, with a strong tradition of golf, service, and community. We are seeking a motivated, service-driven Assistant Golf Professional to join our golf operations team and contribute to an outstanding member experience. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a PGA Professional or Associate to gain comprehensive experience in a private-club environment while advancing professionally. Position Summary The Assistant Golf Professional will assist the Head Golf Professional in all aspects of daily golf operations, including golf shop management, tournaments, instruction, merchandising, and member services. The ideal candidate will be professional, organized, enthusiastic, and passionate about growing the game as well as creating and developing a Junior Golf Program. Qualifications • PGA Member or PGA Associate/Apprentice in good standing (preferred) • Prior experience in golf operations, instruction, or tournament administration • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills • Working knowledge of golf shop POS systems, tee-time software, and GHIN • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and peak golf season hours • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Passion for the game of golf and a desire to advance professionally Key Responsibilities: Golf Operations • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the golf shop, including opening and closing procedures • Manage tee sheets, starting, and pace-of-play initiatives • Provide professional, courteous service to members and guests • Oversee practice facilities, cart operations, and outside services as needed Instruction & Player Development • Provide private golf instruction and assist with clinics, junior golf programs, and player development initiatives • Promote the game of golf and encourage member participation in instructional programs • Create and develop robust Junior Golf Program Tournaments & Events • Assist in the planning, administration, and execution of club tournaments, leagues, and special events • Prepare pairings, scorecards, scoreboards, and post-event results • Enforce the Rules of Golf and club policies during competitions Merchandising & Retail • Assist with golf shop merchandising, inventory control, pricing, and displays • Operate POS and tee-time management systems • Support club fitting and basic club repair services Staff & Club Support • Help train and supervise outside services staff as assigned • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming golf operation • Serve as a positive ambassador of Cleveland Country Club at all times Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary commensurate with experience • Lesson income opportunities • PGA education support (if applicable) • Uniform Allowance • Meals while on duty • Playing and practice privileges Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $35,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
