Overview
Oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensures that turfgrass is repaired and maintained to established standards.
Experience Required
Ability to read and speak English is required to perform the duties of the job.Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to four years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.Valid Driver's License.Pesticide Application License.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.Ensure that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.Procure supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.Maintain records of annual maintenance activities and costs; prepare reports.Implement sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.Ensure that all associates obtain proper training and licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations, and directly address environmental concerns.Ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals and fertilizers used on the course.Manage department members including Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.Ensure effective orientation and training are provided to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.Maintain regular and reliable attendance.Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
