This is a great opportunity for two high school leavers looking for a career and not just a job. After two seasons working at the Country Club, we will pay for the apprentices tuition to for the Ohio State turf school to gain a certificate in turf science.
Duties
Assist with the maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, and bunkers to ensure optimal playing conditions
Learn to operate and maintain power tools, hand tools, irrigation systems, and lawn care equipment safely and effectively
Support landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, aerating, topdressing, and fertilizing
Help with general gardening duties including planting, pruning, weeding, and soil preparation
Conduct routine inspections of the course to identify areas needing repair or improvement
Maintain cleanliness of tools and equipment while adhering to safety standards
Collaborate with team members on landscaping projects and course improvements
Qualifications
A genuine interest in horticulture, gardening, or landscaping with a desire to develop greenkeeping skills
Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in outdoor maintenance
Willingness to learn about irrigation systems and turf management techniques
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for manual tasks
Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward safety and quality standards
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions from experienced team members
