About Wannamoisett Country Club
A private, 18-hole Donald Ross design (1914), Wannamoisett is widely recognized as one of the top classic golf courses in the United States. Ross himself once said, “This is the best layout I have ever made.” The club hosted the 1931 PGA Championship and annually hosts the prestigious Northeast Amateur. Wannamoisett is ranked #2 in Rhode Island and consistently appears on Golf Digest’s Top 100 Classic Courses list.
The club recently completed a significant renovation as part of its Master Plan with architect Andrew Green , focused on restoring Ross’s original strategic intent while preparing the course for today’s game. Project highlights include:
- Expansion of greens to original contours
- Rebuilt and repositioned bunkers with Better Billy Bunker
- Adjusted fairway contouring
- New greens and bunker irrigation
- New tees and expanded native areas
With ongoing Master Plan work and consistently elevated conditioning standards, this is an exciting professional environment for any rising turf leader.
