About the Role
This position assists the Greens Supervisor in developing and professionally managing fine golf turf. Serves as liaison between the Sales and Grounds Maintenance division to ensure the best playing conditions. Responsible for the maintenance division.
Assists in supervising the daily golf course maintenance, planning, and cutting of turf grasses and maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.Sets and implements chemical fertilizer programs.Repairs motorized and mechanical equipment.Assists in supervising and maintaining pumps, irrigation, drainage systems and properly using chemicals and pesticides.Provides administrative reporting and follow-up.May be required to participate and/or facilitate training to support departmental or City initiatives and requirements. May be required to work alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department. Position is designated Mission Critical.Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Two years of experience working on a golf course.Two years of supervisory experience.An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid drivers license. KNOWLEDGE :
Considerable knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques used on golf course grounds. Knowledge of the golf game. ABILITIES:
Ability to prepare a budget.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing, or raising objects that involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force regularly and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.The job requires normal visual acuity, field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception and texture perception.
