We're seeking an experienced Vice President of Agronomy to provide strategic leadership and operational support across an assigned portfolio of our premier clubs with cool season grasses. Position Summary
The Vice President of Agronomy serves as the regional agronomic leader for a portfolio of assigned Heritage Golf Group clubs. This executive provides strategic direction, technical expertise, and operational leadership to Golf Course Superintendents and club leadership teams, ensuring exceptional playing conditions and consistent agronomic standards across the region.
The role partners closely with General Managers, Regional Leadership, and Executive Leadership to drive course conditioning, capital planning, environmental stewardship, and team development while supporting Heritage Golf Group's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to Golf Course Superintendents across multiple club locations.Develop and implement regional agronomic standards and best practices for cool-season turfgrass management.Conduct regular site visits to evaluate course conditions, identify opportunities for improvement, and support operational execution.Partner with General Managers to develop annual operating and capital budgets.Assist with long-term agronomic planning, including irrigation improvements, drainage projects, bunker renovations, course enhancements, and other capital initiatives.Provide technical guidance during construction, renovation, and course improvement projects.Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop Golf Course Superintendents while supporting succession planning across the region.Evaluate agronomic performance and recommend operational improvements that enhance course conditions and financial performance.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, pesticide, and safety regulations.Collaborate with club leadership to prepare courses for tournaments, member events, and special projects.Build strong relationships with architects, consultants, equipment manufacturers, irrigation specialists, and vendor partners.Promote a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the agronomy organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.10+ years of progressive golf course maintenance leadership experience, including multi-course oversight or senior agronomic leadership.Extensive knowledge of cool-season turfgrass managementDemonstrated experience leading capital improvement projects, course renovations, and long-range agronomic planning.Strong financial acumen with experience managing operating and capital budgets.Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.Valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly as needed.
