Golf Course Maintenance Operator III (Entry-Level) Position Description POSITION SUMMARY The Golf Course Maintenance Operator III performs entry-level golf course maintenance tasks and operates basic landscape and turf equipment. This position assists the maintenance team with routine course setup, general landscaping, and turf care activities while learning proper maintenance practices and safety procedures. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED Ability to perform manual labor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Willingness to learn golf course maintenance practices and equipment operation. Basic knowledge of landscaping or turf maintenance preferred but not required. Experience in golf course maintenance preferred but not required. Ability to safely operate small tools and equipment. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Positive attitude, professionalism, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Understanding internal controls and confidentiality procedures. American Red Cross first aid certification preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or application tracking systems preferred. Participates in OSHA-required training, including the Hazard Communication Standard. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Perform basic golf course maintenance tasks including bunker raking, debris removal, divot repair, and course set-up. Operate basic equipment such as push mowers, backpack blowers, string trimmers, and hand tools. Assist with mowing, trimming, and maintaining landscaped areas around the golf course. Help prepare for the course for daily play including tee markers, signage, and placement. Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas. Follow all safety procedures when operating tools and equipment. Report equipment issues or course conditions to supervisors. Assist other maintenance staff with turf care and landscape tasks as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to walk long distances (up to 5 miles/day) and lift 50 lbs. Outdoor work environment in all weather conditions (heat, rain, humidity, cold). Physical ability to handle repetitive movements: standing, walking, twisting, turning, bending, squatting, and stooping daily. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Outdoors in heat, cold, and humidity, with exposure to landscaping equipment, turf maintenance tools, and uneven terrain. SCHEDULING Golf Course Maintenance operates 7 days per week. The Golf Course Maintenance Operator III must be available for early mornings, weekends, and overtime hours as required by weather conditions or treatment timing. Apply online: Principals only.
