Help keep Boca Raton's golf course in top playing condition

Golfers and the community expect a course that is safe, attractive and well kept every day. As Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, you'll lead the maintenance crew day to day and work alongside them on mowing, irrigation, bunkers and course setup. You'll also train and coach the team. You report to the Golf Course Superintendent and step in for them during short absences.

This role suits a hands-on turf professional who likes leading people as much as caring for the course.

Lead and develop the crew

Assign daily work, set priorities and adjust workloads to finish course maintenance on timeTrain and mentor staff on maintenance techniques, equipment operation and safetyGive real-time feedback, coaching and recognition to keep quality and morale highHelp resolve workplace conflicts and encourage open, respectful communicationAct as the link between the crew and supervisorsTake charge of daily operations when the Golf Course Superintendent is briefly awayMaintain the course

Work hands-on with the crew on mowing, edging, trimming, irrigation, bunker maintenance, landscaping and course setupOperate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and adjust irrigation systemsHelp apply fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides according to labels and regulationsHelp troubleshoot equipment, turf and maintenance problems, and report issues that need more attentionCoordinate, stay safe and keep records

Work with golf operations staff to plan maintenance around daily play, tournaments and special eventsLead by example on safety: hold safety talks and tailgate meetings and fix hazards quicklyMake sure the crew has the tools, equipment and materials they needKeep records on turf-care applications, irrigation, equipment maintenance, training and safety complianceReinforce good customer service with golfers, visitors and the publicMust-have qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent2 years of progressively responsible management-level experience in golf course, park, landscape or grounds maintenance, including supervising staff, planning and assigning work, and overseeing daily operationsExperience safely operating and inspecting grounds equipment and doing routine maintenance and adjustmentsValid Florida Class E driver's licenseFlorida Pesticide Applicator License, or the ability to get one within 6 months of hireWhat will make you stand out

Training or coursework in turf management, horticulture, agronomy or a related field5+ years of golf course, park, landscape or grounds maintenance experienceDirect experience maintaining greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkersExperience troubleshooting and repairing golf course irrigation systemsAdvanced knowledge of turf health, cultural practices, pest management and irrigation schedulingBenefits
