Golf Course Superintendent

Rock Creek Resort & Club is seeking an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to lead the agronomic and maintenance operations of the golf course at Rock Creek on Lake Texoma.

This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for overall golf course conditioning, turf health, irrigation, personnel, equipment, operating budgets, maintenance planning, and course-improvement projects.

We are looking for a Superintendent who takes ownership of the golf course, sets high standards, develops employees, communicates well with management and golfers, and consistently delivers a well-conditioned, attractive, playable golf course.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to directly influence the quality and direction of the golf product at Rock Creek and will be expected to bring a proactive, long-term approach to agronomy, staffing, equipment, water management, budgeting, and capital improvements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Golf Course Conditioning & Agronomy - Direct all daily golf course maintenance and agronomic operations.

- Develop and implement turf-management programs for greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaped areas.

- Maintain the golf course to established standards for quality, playability, appearance, and consistency.

- Develop annual programs for mowing, fertilization, aerification, topdressing, chemical applications, and other cultural practices.

- Monitor turf health, soil conditions, irrigation efficiency, weather, pests, and disease.

- Identify and correct course-condition issues before they become larger problems.

- Prepare the golf course for daily play, tournaments, and special events.

Irrigation & Water Management - Manage the golf course irrigation system, including programming, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

- Monitor water usage and implement efficient irrigation practices.

- Identify needed irrigation repairs, upgrades, and long-term improvements.

Leadership & Staffing - Recruit, supervise, train, schedule, develop, and evaluate golf course maintenance employees.

- Establish clear work assignments and performance expectations.

- Build a department culture based on professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and pride in the golf course.

- Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence with the maintenance team.

Budget & Cost Control - Develop and manage the golf course maintenance operating budget.

- Control labor, fertilizer, chemical, water, fuel, equipment, repair, and other maintenance expenses.

- Monitor actual results against budget and address material variances.

- Participate in annual operating and capital planning.

Equipment & Facilities - Oversee the golf course maintenance facility and equipment fleet.

- Coordinate preventative maintenance and equipment repairs.

- Participate in equipment replacement and capital planning.

- Maintain safe, organized, and professional maintenance facilities.

Projects & Capital Improvements - Oversee approved golf course improvement and renovation projects including irrigation, drainage, turf replacement, bunker work, landscaping, and other course improvements.

- Develop priorities, scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.

- Coordinate contractors and vendors.

- Communicate project status, costs, and operational impacts to management.

Compliance & Safety - Maintain required agronomic, chemical, irrigation, labor, and equipment records.

- Establish and enforce safe operating procedures.

- Ensure compliance with applicable pesticide, environmental, employee-safety, and chemical-storage requirements.

- Maintain required licenses and documentation.

Communication - Coordinate closely with the General Manager, Golf Professional, and other departments regarding course conditions, tournaments, maintenance schedules, projects, and weather-related impacts.

- Communicate professionally with members and golfers regarding golf course conditions when appropriate.

- Provide management with timely information regarding course conditions, operating issues, staffing, and capital needs.

- Demonstrate golf course maintenance experience with progressively increasing responsibility.

- Previous experience as a Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or comparable golf course maintenance leader.

- Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation, agronomy, pests, disease, and cultural practices.

- Experience supervising and developing maintenance employees.

- Experience managing operating budgets and controlling labor and material costs.

- Working knowledge of golf course equipment and preventative maintenance.

- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

- Valid driver's license.

- State pesticide applicator's license or ability to obtain required licensing.

Preferred Qualifications - Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field.

- CGCS designation or progress toward professional certification.

- Private-club or resort-golf experience.

- Strong irrigation and water-management experience.
