Job Summary:
The Retail Golf Shop Associate plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and a positive shopping experience in a vibrant golfing environment. This position involves engaging with members and guests to understand their needs, providing detailed product knowledge on golf equipment, apparel, and accessories, and assisting with sales transactions. The associate is responsible for maintaining an organized and visually appealing store layout, ensuring high standards of merchandise presentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Greet members and guests warmly, assess their needs, and provide personalized assistance to enhance their shopping experience.
Maintain extensive knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories, including features, benefits, and suitability for various skill levels.
Process online orders efficiently, including picking, packing, and shipping products, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in delivery.
Collaborate with the Merchandise Manager to create engaging content for email newsletters and social media platforms, promoting new arrivals, sales, and events.
Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing incoming merchandise; monitor stock levels to ensure popular items are readily available.
Participate in executing marketing and promotional events, such as product launches and sales, to drive customer engagement and sales growth.
Collaborate with vendors to reconcile inventory discrepancies, ensuring accurate stock levels and resolving any issues promptly.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED; some college coursework in business, marketing, retail management or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience in retail, sales, or customer service preferred, particularly in a sports or specialty retail environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Basic understanding of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories; a passion for the sport is highly desirable.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities to convey information clearly and effectively to members, guests, and team members.
Capability to maintain an organized store layout, manage inventory accurately, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
A genuine interest in golf and the golfing community, which helps build rapport with members and guests and enhances the overall experience.
Understanding of digital marketing techniques, social media engagement, and e-commerce strategies to help promote the golf shop.
Keen eye for detail to ensure proper merchandising, accurate pricing, and maintaining high standards for store presentation.
Competencies:
A proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative in improving store processes, customer experiences, or personal contributions to the team.
An understanding of effective display techniques to create attractive product presentations that entice customers and drive sales.

Regular cleaning is necessary to keep the shop looking presentable. This includes dusting shelves, maintaining cleanliness in rest areas, and ensuring merchandise remains in good condition. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In addition to its indoor offerings, the golf shop often facilitates connections to outdoor golfing experiences.
