TPC Boston is a private par-72, 7,241-yard golf course located in Norton, MA. Originally designed by the legendary player/designer Arnold Palmer, TPC Boston’s award-winning layout was redesigned in 2007 by Gil Hanse. The golf course is crafted to fit seamlessly into the natural New England landscape and excels in the areas of resource conservation, water quality management, integrated pest management, wildlife/habitat management and education/outreach. The Assistant Golf Professional I is responsible for assisting with the daily management of all aspects of the golf shop and golf operation at the club.
Responsibilities
Assist in all aspects of management of employees, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training all golf shop and golf operations staff utilizing standard company procedures.Make staffing, disciplinary, and compensation recommendations to department headAssist PGA TOUR players, members and guests with their golfing needs, ensuring that every step of their golf experience at the club runs as smoothly and is as enjoyable as possibleAssume management responsibility in the Golf Shop during the peak periods ensuring service standards are maintainedAssist with writing and conducting annual and semi-annual employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions.Assist with employee development and training plans and provides substantial input on employee’s readiness for promotions, transfers or out-placementAssist Head Golf Professional with labor management and cost controls by planning for and scheduling labor to include Golf Shop and Outside Golf Staff as neededOversee outside golf operations, ensuring that control of membership and guest services.Ensure set-up and maintenance of practice facility, course advisors, golf car maintenance, golf bag storage, and golf club repair activities.Work closely with the Outside Golf Staff and Club Administration to coordinate all golf related activitiesPromote golf by teaching and conducting player development programs (where applicable), and staffing club tournament events which are established by the Head Professional and General Manager.Practice golf game and plays with members and guests as necessaryMaintain the playing standards required for all Golf Professionals in the TPC Network.Assist with timely completion of submissions and application for Golf World Business Top 100.Present completed presentation to Head Golf Professional for review and final approval prior to submission to Golf World BusinessEstablish and administer the club tournament program.Assist in the development of promotional materials to communicate the programs to the members and guests as neededDepending on location, ensure that the locker room staff provides the highest level of service and cleanliness standards.Maintain and replenish supplies of towels and other personal hygiene amenities as necessaryAssist the Head Golf Professional with the development of the golf operations budget, the annual golf shop operating budget, and manage respective line items in accordance with budgets while controlling general expenses for the entire golf operationMaintain control of employee uniforms, ensuring that uniforms and name tags are worn and kept in proper condition and readily available at all times to employeesDepending on location, may be responsible for preparation of monthly merchandise report from the month end reports.Check in merchandise and ensure storage areas and merchandise displays are orderly, at par stock inventory levels and meet operating standardsAssist with maintaining purchase order system, ordering, and receiving program to ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases.Assist with physical inventories as prescribed by PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, IncAnswer telephones clearly and concisely, to schedule future starting time reservations and communicate information in a pleasant and professional mannerManage pace of play, and if applicable, provide biweekly pace of play sheet to Head Golf Professional.Perform all functions of the Assistant Golf Professional II position as neededComplete special projects as neededSpecial projects or other duties as assignedRequirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, Business Management, Marketing or related field or equivalentThorough knowledge of general business administration practices and professional golf operations practices and procedures as would be acquired through three to five years of similar professional golf experience in progressively responsible positionsPrior supervisory experience requiredWorking knowledge of golf course operations and practices necessaryRegistered PGA apprentice or current PGA Member in good standingBenefits
